Self-Portait taken in Lafayette No. 1 Cemetery in New Orleans

Today’s image is a self-portrait taken in Lafayette No. 1 Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana. I’d taken a Friday afternoon to shoot the cemetery which is located in the beautiful Garden District of New Orleans. The cemetery itself was a joy to shoot – old, barren, creepy, eerie and macabre. It also is the only cemetery in New Orleans I’ve visited where I’ve encountered a crypt with my family name on it. It’s a strange feeling to see your name on a grave – usually to have your name on a grave means you’re never going to see it!

This was originally shot in color as was the rest of my shots of the cemetery but most I’ve since converted to black and white for effect and this one got desaturated as well and I like it much better this way.
